IT Technician Requirements:

  • Appropriate Diploma/Degree in Information Technology
  • Certified Engineer; MSCE or MCSA and Comptia Certified A+ or CompTIA Certified Network +
  • Three (3) years of appropriate experience or relevant certification plus six (6) years of appropriate experience
  • Valid, unexpired driver’s license
  • Certificate with Mathematics as a subject
  • Knowledge of the Access to Information Act and information security protocols
  • Knowledge and experience in IT development and enhancements
  • Understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems
  • Knowledge of the PFMA Act and departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of DWS Asset and Supply Chain Management procedures and functions is an added advantage

IT Technician Duties:

  • Install new hardware and software
  • Analyze equipment and software
  • Inspect equipment for defects
  • Test and connect peripherals, including driver installation
  • Provide necessary training for equipment use
  • Roll out new software as prescribed by the Office of the CIO
  • Maintain existing hardware and software
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis for hardware and software incidents and problems
  • Resolve warranty issues
  • Advise clients on future use or replacement of equipment/software
  • Support hardware and software configuration
  • Investigate reconfiguration needs for hardware/software
  • Investigate equipment/software capabilities
  • Decommission hardware and software
  • Ensure data is permanently removed from decommissioned devices
  • Install all hard and software within the DWS domain
  • Execute client installations of Transversal systems (Persal, SAP, BAS, Logis)
  • Ensure LAN equipment and connectivity (UTP Cabling, Wi-Fi devices) installation
  • Ensure Server and WAN availability with outsourced partners
  • Provide remote office and end-user support within IBOM: Southern Operations
  • Enforce all IT policies, norms, and standards
  • Compile monthly IT expenditure and performance reports
  • Perform overtime and standby duties as necessary
  • Assist the Manager Information Systems Support with IT-related tasks

IT Technician Applicants
