Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Experience of 6-11 months in relevant roles
• Possession of a Grade C security certificate
• Registration with PSIRa (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority)
• Preferably skilled in computer operations and CCTV monitoring in control rooms
• Understanding of pertinent legislation including the Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act No. 53 of 1985, PSIRa Act 56 of 2001, and Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
• Flexibility to work shifts and handle pressure
• Priority is given to EPWP trainees and administrative interns with experience in the Department per Personnel Circular Letter 4 of 2017
• Mandatory medical screening for candidates

Responsibilities:

• Protecting state assets, vehicles, employees, patients, contractors, and visitors
• Supervising the movement of patients and visitors
• Providing escort services to staff, visitors, and patients as necessary
• Documenting all incidents/breaches in the Occurrences Book
• Conducting thorough searches of individuals and vehicles
• Enforcing departmental regulations
• Assisting nursing staff with aggressive patients if needed
• Overseeing hospital security aids
• Monitoring CCTV cameras
• Promptly responding to emergencies within the hospital premises
