  • Senior/Grade 12 certificate
  • Security Grade A Certificate
  • Valid PSIRA enrollment
  • Accredited National Key Point (NKP) Certificate
  • Security-related National Diploma or Degree (an advantage)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a security terrain
  • SAPS Firearm faculty instrument for Rifle, Shotgun, and Dynamo
  • Valid unexpired motorist’s license
  • Computer knowledge and chops in MS Office Software package
  • Knowledge of prescribed security legislation (e.g., MISS, Protection of Information Act, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of exigency procedures
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Sound knowledge, interpretation, and operation of security law of conduct, security legislations, and directives
  • Good listening, communication, interpersonal chops
  • Capability to interact with people at all situations and work in a platoon terrain
  • Analytical thinking, problem-working
  • Capability to handle conflict and excellent report writing chops
  • Capability to work under pressure

Chief Security Officer Duties:

  • Align and apply security programs and regulations.
  • insure arm regulation is enforced consequently.
  • Coordinate training on arms to insure faculty.
  • apply exigency contingency and procedures.
  • Conduct point examinations on sanctioned places and services.
  • guard Departmental means.
  • Conduct security mindfulness.
  • Manage the total physical security at the area services and National Key Point (NKP).
  • insure the safe guardianship and protection of officers, means, and information through the perpetration and adherence to the MISS/ MPSS.
  • Maintain and apply physical security measures to minimize pitfalls.
  • Examiner and check security control registers.
  • check all installations of structures and advise operation of all pitfalls.
  • probe all incidents that have passed in the services and liaise with applicable stakeholders.
  • Develop and apply the contingency and disaster recovery plan in terms of the applicable legislation.
  • Liaise with National Intelligence Agency (NIA), South African Police Services (SAPS), other security agencies, and DWS National Security Manager.
  • Manage private security service provider’s contracts.
  • give functional and executive backing regarding security conditioning, forums, trainings, vetting, threat assessments, and security reports.
  • Manage and estimate staff performance on an ongoing base.
  • Conduct examinations where necessary.
