Overview:
The purpose of this position is to render security services for the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (dtic).

Security Officer job Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12
  • Relevant security certification or qualifications
  • Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulator Authority (PSIRA)
  • 3-5 years of applicable experience in a security services environment

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience in access control, examinations, contingency planning, report writing, and convoying.
  • Strong verbal and spoken communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to following protocols.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with both callers and staff.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to client service excellence.
  • Capability to stay composed under pressure and handle security-related incidents.
  • Time operation, planning, and organizing skills.
  • Analytical allowing skills and report-writing skills.
  • Introductory understanding of exigency response procedures and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in using security outfit, including X-ray machines and fire extinguishers.
  • Solid report-writing skills to directly validate incidents and examinations.
  • Strong familiarity with the Control Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation and regulations, including Public Service Regulations, Public Service Act, Public Finance Management Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Disaster Management Act, Protection of Information Act, and Treasury Regulations.
  • Knowledge of executive support services in the Department.
  • Computer knowledge (MS Office Package).

Duties:

  • Implement and apply access control protocols as per the Control Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act.
  • Ensure proper operation of access cards by dtic staff for demesne entry.
  • Conduct thorough caller wireworks, following established guidelines.
  • Corroborate and communicate individualities being visited previous to granting caller access.
  • Grease X-ray webbing for callers’ parcels.
  • Perform thorough examinations of structures and labor force, upholding security norms.
  • Supervise external guards from Sunnyside, icing alignment with security protocols.
  • Regularly check evacuation routes, fire extinguishers, and exigency systems.
  • Laboriously share in safety training and evacuation drills.
  • Collect comprehensive yearly statistical reports covering access control, callers, parking, correspondence, contractors, and crucial operation.
  • Report and document outfit and security system issues, failures, and examinations.
  • Maintain effective communication with administrators regarding incidents and enterprises.
  • Examiner and secure unattended office doors, icing proper check and locking.
  • Guard classified documents and staff particular things.
  • Corroborate arrestment of all appliances at the end of each day.
  • Professionally companion callers, including superstars, icing their security.
  • Maintain watchful oversight of caller movement within demesne.
  • Ensure no callers are left unattended within office areas.
  • Manage and retain accurate caller records.
