Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Artisan Painter to join our team. As an Artisan Painter, you will be responsible for performing general building maintenance painting, and decoration tasks both inside and outside buildings. Your role will involve adhering to maintenance schedules, conducting ad-hoc repairs of building facilities, and ensuring the overall upkeep of building structures.

Painter Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repair:

Conduct periodic painting of walls, roofs, floors, ceilings, storerooms, workshops, plant rooms, offices, ablution facilities, signage, parking areas, and more.
Perform routine general building maintenance as per schedule to ensure the proper functioning of equipment.
Maintain housekeeping standards and keep log books up-to-date.
Carry out installations, minor repairs, and modifications as needed to ensure equipment meets required standards.
Provide on-the-job training to staff in basic skills to enhance departmental efficiency.
Assist in maintaining the performance and appearance of building offices to specification.

Team Management and Planning:

Participate in motivating and developing the maintenance team, including technical assistants.
Implement maintenance plans for buildings.

Oversee minor and major projects. Coordinate with contractors and ensure smooth project execution. Organize, plan, and control operational activities.
Conduct quality checks to ensure work meets required standards. Set up and maintain maintenance schedules and daily routines.

Execute maintenance activities according to planned budgets.
Perform fault finding and repair work in line with established methodologies. Conduct daily inspections and assessments of building structures.

Compile material lists and maintain material control. Ensure cleanliness of storerooms, workshops, parking facilities, and general areas. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activity reports.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance:

Maintain effective health and safety standards within the work environment. Complete risk assessments for the department. Conduct toolbox talks to promote safety awareness. Monitor and enforce safety regulations on all machinery. Guarantee adherence to the requirements stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other pertinent regulations to ensure full compliance and uphold a safe working environment. Adhere to procurement processes and SABC policies. Maintain strict confidentiality of stakeholder documents.

Stakeholder Management:

Assist management in sourcing required equipment and materials. Support management in developing operational and capital replacement budgets. Stay updated with the latest developments and technology in the painting and maintenance field.

Qualifications & Experience:

Qualified Painter Artisan with a minimum of NTC3 or N3 qualification and Trade Test Certificate, or relevant qualification (NQF Level 4).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in painting, maintenance, and building environments.
Familiarity with general building maintenance systems.
