Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, Basic Conditions of Employment Act 75 of 1997, etc.
  • Familiarity with Quality assurance, National Core Standards, Health and Safety, and Infection Control principles.
  • Willingness to undergo medical surveillance is an inherent job requirement.

Duties

  • Provide Comprehensive Occupational Safety Services as required by OHS Act no 85 of 1993, COID Act no. 130 of 1993.
  • Coordinate safety, environment, and risk training.
  • Assist with the investigation of health and safety incidents and conduct health safety Inspections.
  • Coordinate the establishment and functioning of the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure and maintain proper record-keeping.
  • Collaborate with other areas of specialization within the department.
  • Capture, analyze, interpret, and report safety statistics.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to National Core/ Ideal Hospital and other Health standards and norms.
  • Submission of weekly and monthly reports.
  • Comply with the Performance Management and Development System.
