Applications are sought from qualified candidates for the role of Learner Operator Raise Drilling at Modikwa Mine near Burgersfort, Limpopo. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor Raise Drilling, the successful candidate will undergo training and development in Raise drilling operations.

Job Description

The successful candidate will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of general workers and perform duties as a drilling operator, achieving competency at this entry-level.
  • Complete on-the-job practical work and theory at the M&RC Training Academy.
  • Safely operate Raise drilling machines under supervision.
  • Adhere to lockout procedures.
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and promptly.
  • Understand and comply with M&RC’s standards, policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Learner Operator Minimum Requirements

Candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
  • Raise Drilling Operator training program [Theory essential].
  • Competency B.
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal).

Relevant work experience:

  • At least 2 years experience as a Raise Drilling General Worker (Advantageous).
  • Sound knowledge of raise drilling operations and methods.
  • Understanding of baseline risk assessment with the ability to independently complete an issue-based risk assessment [essential].
