MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Grade 10 / ABET level 4 certificate or higher
  • Basic arithmetic skills (counting ability)
  • Minimum of 12 months of proven experience in a formal clinical or hospital environment
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Infection prevention and control, and Batho Pele Principles
  • Familiarity with linen/laundry equipment, machinery, and detergents
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and night shifts
  • Proficiency in collaborative work and managing challenging situations
  • Skills: Communication, interpersonal relations, time management, and customer service

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily collection of soiled linen from wards and out-patient departments
  • Daily delivery of clean linen to respective wards
  • Sorting, counting, washing, drying, folding, and packing linen on a daily basis
  • Proper disposal of soiled linen
  • Packing, unpacking, and counting soiled and clean linen
  • Organizing linen in the linen bank
  • Participating in bi-annual and annual stock taking
  • Openness to working extra hours as required
  • Compliance with laundry service guidelines and procedures
  • Following lawful instructions from the supervisor
  • Meeting physical demands of the work individually or as part of a team
