Requirements :

  • Abet level 2 certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 1 or 2)
  • Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper laundry procedures, including sorting, washing, drying, and folding.
  • Familiarity with different fabrics and their care requirements.
  • Ability to operate and maintain laundry equipment.
  • Basic understanding of stain removal techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet laundry processing deadlines.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Duties :

  • Preparation of clothes, linen and other washable items, Washing of Clothes, drying of clothes and ironing of clothes. As a Laundry Aid, your primary responsibility is to provide assistance and support in the laundering and maintenance of linen, clothing, and other washable items. You will work in various settings such as hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, or laundromats, ensuring that all laundry processes are carried out efficiently and effectively. Your role is crucial in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and a steady supply of clean laundry for the organization or facility you work for.


Sorting and Preparation: Collect soiled linens, clothing, and other washable items and sort them according to fabric type, color, and washing instructions.

  • Operating Laundry Equipment: Load and unload laundry machines such as washers, dryers, and ironing machines, ensuring appropriate settings and proper use.
  • Stain Treatment: Identify and apply stain removal techniques to minimize discoloration and ensure the best possible cleaning results.
  • Washing and Drying: Operate commercial washing machines and dryers to clean and dry laundry items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Folding and Ironing: Fold or press laundered items neatly and accurately, following specific instructions for each item type.
  • Quality Control: Inspect laundered items for stains, tears, or damage, ensuring that they meet the required standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of linens, uniforms, and other laundry supplies, reporting shortages or damaged items to the supervisor.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks on laundry equipment to ensure their proper functioning. Report any malfunctions or repair needs to the supervisor.
  • Safety and Sanitation: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure a hygienic environment.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional customer service, addressing inquiries or concerns related to laundry services.
