The SAMPRA Development Fund presents internship opportunities for two graduates aspiring to develop skills and gain experience in the music industry. Successful candidates will be stationed at Paradise Africa Distribution, located at 105 Oxford Road, Rosebank, Johannesburg. Applicants are expected to have completed a postgraduate qualification, BA, or BCom from an accredited institution, with a specific interest in the entertainment sector. The internship covers the following core experience areas:


1. Junior Label Management:

  • Building prospect acquisition lists demonstrating understanding of qualified clients and attention to music business trends.
  • Displaying an understanding of genres, artists, and labels relevant to the musical landscape.
  • Providing constant and reliable support to label managers, offering advice and expertise for client rosters.
  • Proactively offering insight, advice, and creative strategic planning support to engage with clients regarding releases, catalogs, and revenue.
  • Assisting label managers in shaping and implementing new and ongoing release campaigns.
  • Playlist curation across various DSPs.
  • Developing new media relationships and enhancing existing network lists among relevant and new media outlets.
  • Contributing to database development management and maintenance.
  • Working directly with the leadership team on the ground and abroad.

2. Paradise Representation:

  • Representing Paradise in the South African industry, attending gigs, and conferences, and spreading the word.
  • Staying aware of changes and developments in the South African music market, emphasizing competitor activity.
  • Acting as an integral team member, motivating and inspiring others for consistent improvement and development.
  • Staying informed about emerging trends, new entrants in the DSP space, and other social, merch, and fan experience vehicles impacting streaming.

Key Requirements:

  • Completed qualification in a relevant field of study.
  • No work experience is required.
  • Proof of qualification (certified copy of transcript or qualification).
  • Close or driving distance to Rosebank.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Willingness to take instructions and follow company rules and protocols.
  • Passionate about music with a positive and vibrant personality.

All interns must attend company events, some of which may include Saturdays or evenings. Interested candidates meeting the requirements should email a concise CV and certified copies of qualifications/transcripts to by the close of business on January 26, 2024. The internship, lasting 12 months at Paradise Africa Distribution, includes a stipend of R6,500.00 per month.
