Job Description:


An opportunity has arisen at Healthchem Group (Pty) Ltd in Midstream for a Code 8/10 Driver. Your responsibility will be to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of required goods to the correct customer in the specified order and condition.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Grade 12 / Matric with proficiency in English
  • Valid Code 8/10 Driver’s license
  • 2 years of relevant experience in door-to-door delivery
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible retail hours and/or shifts


  • Previous experience in a similar role

Job Specifications:

  • Conduct monthly vehicle inspections with the inspector at the designated site.
  • Maintain accountability for any damages and losses incurred during the delivery process.
  • Responsible for the Petrol card and refueling the vehicle using the correct odometer reading.
  • Use the Petrol card only for the assigned vehicle.
  • Immediately report any vehicle issues or damages to the Manager on the same working day.
  • The vehicle should not be used for personal trips or stops, including lunch and tea breaks.
  • Vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking, and any abnormalities will result in disciplinary action.
  • Safely and promptly transport products to customer locations, ensuring courteous service.
  • Be open to learning various dispatch functions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of the correct products to each customer.
  • Prioritize and transport fridge line deliveries using cooler boxes and cold packs.
  • Optimize routes for efficiency when traveling to customers and returning to the store.
  • After each delivery, return to the store promptly to enable the vehicle’s utilization for subsequent deliveries.


  • Repack the vehicle after each delivery to prevent boxes from falling and damaging the stock or vehicle.
  • Assume full responsibility for any damages and losses incurred during the delivery process.
  • Exercise extra care when delivering fragile and hazardous products.
  • Adhere to minimum standards of efficiency and accuracy to meet company standards.
  • Follow delivery and pickup instructions provided by the manager.
  • Ensure proper checking, signing, and return of all collections, store returns, and inter-branch items to the receiving area.
  • Obtain signatures on delivery paperwork.
  • Ensure accurate recording of customer names and addresses.
  • Record all invoices on the delivery log sheet correctly and have them available.
  • Ensure that all invoices are signed correctly and report any discrepancies to the relevant manager.
  • Comply with the company vehicle policy at all times.
  • Maintain an accurate vehicle logbook.
  • Process payments for all transactions via EFT and cash.
  • Never leave the vehicle unattended during the delivery process.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and washed.
  • Inspect the vehicle before, during, and after trips to identify any defects or safety concerns and report them to the manager.
  • Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
  • Adhere to road traffic rules and regulations in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Take responsibility for any traffic fines associated with the vehicle you drive.
  • Develop effective relationships with internal and external customers to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to establish long-term customer relationships.
  • Maintain professional behavior when interacting with customers.
  • Report customer complaints, compliments, and requests to management and provide feedback.



  • Familiarity with designated routes and street names.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Presentable appearance.
  • Trustworthy and honest.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Proactive communication to foster cooperative relationships with customers, management, and staff.
  • Strong time management, deadline-driven, and attention to detail.

Special conditions of employment:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must pass MIE, credit, and criminal background checks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to working hours based on business needs.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday – 8am to 5pm, plus 2 Saturdays – 8am to 1pm.


  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Report any instances of suspicious behavior involving both staff and customers.

Special conditions of employment:

  • Willingness and ability to work flexible retail hours and/or shifts.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Capable and physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes while adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation and/or residing in close proximity to the store.
  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must have a clear credit and criminal record.
