  • Senior Certificate/Grade 12.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in communication and basic numeracy.

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and hazardous working conditions.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and cleaning materials.
  • Ability to write a report.

General Foreman DUTIES:

  1. Administer attendance records for cleaners.
  2. Inspect the physical environment to ensure hygiene and cleanliness.
  3. Monitor the condition and availability of cleaning equipment.
  4. Order, receive, and issue cleaning materials.
  5. Ensure safekeeping of cleaning materials and equipment.
  6. Manage and resolve grievances of cleaning staff.
  7. Compile attendance reports.
  8. Delegate work responsibilities.
  9. Assist in cleaning certain areas in the building.
  10. Report faults and defects that might affect daily operations.

Effective from 01 January 2021, DPSA has approved the use of the new Z83 Application Form, obtainable from any Public Service department. In completing the new Z83 form, please ensure the following:

  • Fully complete Part A and B.
  • Provide complete information in Part C regarding your preferred method of correspondence and contact details.
  • Thoroughly answer two questions in Part F relating to conditions preventing reappointment.
  • Initial Page 1 as instructed.

To enhance the recruitment process and implement protective measures during the pandemic, the following certification procedures are in effect:

  • Advertisements and accompanying notes will clearly specify certification requirements, emphasizing that applicants should not submit copies of qualifications and relevant documents with their initial application.
  • Applicants must submit the Z83 form along with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). Communication regarding the necessity for certified documents will be limited to shortlisted candidates.
  • Shortlisted candidates must submit certified documents.
  • The employment Form (Z83) indicates in the “additional information” section that candidates selected for interviews may be asked to provide additional certified information for the final decision.
  • Certification confirms that a document is a true copy of the original and does not validate the authenticity of the original document.
  • Regulation 67 (9) mandates the executive authority to ensure full satisfaction of claims made, verified through Personnel Suitability Checks.
  • Applications not adhering to the above instructions will be disqualified.
