The British High Commission is seeking a dedicated and professional Driver / Messenger to join our Corporate Services team in Pretoria. As part of this team, you will provide excellent customer service and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of passengers. The role may also involve assisting with estate functions and coordinating VIP visits.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport passengers to and from various destinations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with passengers regarding journey details and any changes that may occur.
  • Participate in VIP visits by providing transport and coordinating logistics.
  • Adhere to all South African traffic laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle checks and keep accurate records of bookings, journeys, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Familiarize and comply with the British High Commission’s Transport Policy and Corporate Services Charter.


  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Must possess a C1 with PDP Driver’s License.
  • Previous experience as a Driver/Chauffer is essential.
  • Good geographical knowledge and communication skills.
  • Basic IT literacy and administrative skills are required.

Driver / Messenger Benefits:

  • Training will be provided.
  • Key Care Plus option on Discovery Health paid for by the British High Commission.
  • Provident Fund contribution after successful completion of probation.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 25 days.
  • Working hours per week: 40.
