Communication Officer Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with NQF level 6 or equivalent recognized by SAQA.
  • Minimum three (03) years communication experience, focusing on social media applications.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (excluding individuals with disabilities).
  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager.
  • Proficiency in current news trends.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to create content suitable for social media platforms.
  • Social media training is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication abilities.
  • Accountability, ethics, and ability to work under pressure.

Communication Officer Duties:

  • Develop and manage all Departmental social media platforms.
  • Implement social media strategy aligned with campaigns and programs.
  • Interact with followers and provide swift responses to inquiries.
  • Create, edit, and distribute various content, including website materials.
  • Design internal and external newsletters.
  • Foster relationships with media outlets.
  • Establish and maintain a media organizations database.
  • Draft and release media advisories.
  • Initiate a departmental podcast.
  • Collaborate with Public and Private Institutions on projects.
  • Coordinate departmental communication plan implementation.
  • Manage branding and exhibitions for departmental events.
