MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB (Ambulance assistant)

1 Providing medical care on-site based on the scope of practice and attending to emergency calls.
2 An assessment of physical fitness and medical fitness is required for appointment to this position
Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
Administer patient care in line with the scope of practice
Provide professional emergency services to site-based clients


Driver’s license with PDP. Matric/ Grade 12

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate

It would be advantageous if you completed training in the Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. If you don’t comply with the clinical practice guidelines during the operation, you’ll have to undergo this training during your probationary period if your operation is successful.


ESSENTIAL Minimal EXPERIENCE 6 months – 1-yr road BLS experience

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: two yrs of BLS knowledge


  • Responding to emergency calls: knowledge of how to respond when an emergency call is received, and promptly respond to the scene, often in an ambulance or other emergency response vehicle Provided.
  • Facilities, travel routes, and demographical area
  • HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
  • Application of best practice
  • EMS environment
  • Good in English(written and verbal)
  • Patient Report Forms
